Requirements for a Quality Management System
When implementing ISO 9001 an organisation needs to assess the resources required. Senior Management should be responsible for providing the resource to implement, maintain and improve the quality management system. Specifically ISO 9001:2008 requires that a member of the management team with responsibility and authority is appointed the management representative. The management representative should be responsible specifically for ensuring the quality management system is established, implemented and maintained and ensure customer requirements are communicated throughout the organization. Resource provision considered by the senior management should include skilled personnel, suitable equipment, suitable work environment, appropriate hardware and software, infrastructure, information, finances, audit resource and training. Resource requirements should be reviewed during management reviews.
