I feel if it makes your feel better about yourself and it’ll boost your self esteem, there’s a difference between self esteem and vanity, I see nothing wrong with it. I myself had hair graphs put in at Bosleys not long ago because I didn’t want to lose my hair and I feel great and I’m glad I did it.

I do think people can go too far and there is only so much cosmetic surgery can do but if you can afford it then go for it.

im a UK size 10, which is what my sister wears and shes 12

but anyway………..I just saw an advocate on tv say, "It’s discriminatory against women because 75% of cosmetic patients are women."
That’s BULL.
Men have just as much opportunity to get cosmetic surgery as women.
Just because they CHOOSE not to, doesn’t mean it’s discriminatory.

I’ll tell you what would be discriminatory: Taxing vaginal surgery.
That would be an example of a tax that men CAN’T pay.

Cosmetic surgery is by definition elective, unnecessary…….voluntary tax….

If you’re financially struggling……..then don’t get the surgery!

Now there are some situations that I’m sympathetic to:
A 15 year old has a big nose…….and wants to get surgery to have a normal-looking nose.
Technically it’s "cosmetic" surgery……….but socially, that surgery is necessary and beneficial.
So that might be a problem with this tax.
Although it’s only 5% so what’s the big deal.

I disagree with you that all cosmetic surgery is elective.

I know a man who lost his nose to frostbite and actually had the outer part of his nose amputated. Now he was so repulsive to look at he couldn’t function in society or even get a job. His appearance was a huge distraction to everyone around him. He needed a prosthetic nose and his greedy insurance company threw him under the bus.

The cult of youthful beauty being carried into old age has seen an explosion in ‘products’ that can be offered to women, and men, to make them ‘better’ and more ‘acceptable’.

What is wrong with them to begin with? Nothing actually. But being OK with yourself and accepting others as they are is not going to put money into a surgeon and anaethetist’s pockets, earn bucks for the hosiptal where you stay, and fill the coffers of cosemtic companies looking to cash in on how ‘ugly’ we all are.

Looking good is not about being a barbie, although the manufacturers and pushers of these cosmetic surgery products would have you believe it is …

Cosmetic surgery is usually about misogyny and self hatred. Time to grow up and realise we are who we are, and that’s OK.

whoever wrote that was right on. " sex change operations" are not a sex change at all. In both cases ftm and mtf the sex organs are removed by unethical surgeons and the body manipulated with hormones but it does not inany way change a persons, sex. As a matter of fact many transexuals "become lesbians" after their operations as they find that they really were attrracted to women again. and a further 7% commit suicide when they find that they are still not women after going through the painful surgeries. Sex change operations are one of the worst scams on the face of the earth ruining the lives and mutilating the bodies of those who are victimized by the scam.

also I heard you can go to India and get the same procedures for up to 30% of what you’d pay in the U.S. so I wanted to know if this was safe, if its succesfull and if anyone has had it done.
