Is it good law to raid Medicare to fund cosmetic surgery, sex change operations, and abortion?

Under the present free market on medical care, people are free to insure themselves for cosmetic surgery, sex change operations, or abortion, or to choose not to be covered for these procedures. Democrats propose a one-pollcy-fits-all insurance under a government monopoly, and to pay much of the cost by raiding Medicare. Would this make medical care better or worse for most Americans?
Michael, I am definitely taking your answer as tongue in cheek.

If the government really wants to fix out health care, they need to fix Medicaid and Medicare to make them worth a damn, not take away private insurances that actually pay. They need to make things flat rates, and not let any insurance company decide how much percentages they are going to pay. So in answer to your question, no, it will not make it better. All they are doing is throwing more crap on an already useless system and one size does not and cannot fit all!

Want to know what others think about the idea of getting surgery to change someone’s appearance? If you had cosmetic surgery, can you please share your experience. Has it benefitted you now, are you more confident in yourself then before?

I think that as long as it’s used to enhance/correct and not alter an appearance, it’s a great thing.

At 21, I had my nose done. It was a very slight change, and people asked if I had changed my make up.

I desperately wants to have dimples on my cheeks.
I had read about many unsuccessful cosmetic surgery like nose surgery,lip surgery,etc…
Like in some nose job,plastic surgeons break bones…etc.Is it the same procedure for having dimples on cheeks? Is surgery to have dimples also dangerous like other cosmetic surgeries?

Any surgery is dangerous. It’s not open heart surgery, but you would likely be under general anesthesia and consequently, it’s dangerous. Plus, if you didn’t go to a good doctor, you could end up disfigured.

Don’t let that discourage you. Just know the risks. A good doctor will apprise you of the risks during your surgery consultation.

Is there an issue with having cosmetic surgery after I have had a kidney transplant? I am taking anti rejection medications. What are the possible complications? Thanks!

You should check with your doctor, ask him if it would be safe and if it would turn out horribly wrong. I don’t think getting dimples would be to hard to do in sugery, like not as hard as nose jobs etc.

we see people talking about getting a cosmetic surgery done to enhance their looks. what role does the media play in this picture. is it the media influence or the society influence. how far would one go to look perfect

There`is`a double standard. It is`commonly regarded as`acceptable if you are a star, singe,r entertainer, model as it helps your career. It’s also OK to a lesser extent if you are someone in the public eye.- a politician, etc as that also seems to help there careers. But it’s not as well accepted if you are just doing it for the sake of vanity. Media influence is a big factor.

Can you get cosmetic surgery on graft sites?

I was in a bad accident 5 years ago, and part of my injuries was a badly disfigured, indented patch on my leg which had a skin graft. The indent is very pronounced, and it looks like i have a section of my leg missing on one side. I also have severe nerve damage to this area.

Is it possible to have cosmetic surgery to "fill in" this very large indent? If so, is it done on the NHS or do you have to go private?

Both questions would be totally patient and problem dependant and would also vary in different areas. You will have to get personal and local advice, start with your GP.
