Better luck Breastfeeding 2nd time? (after surgery)?
I’ve had 2 reconstructions due to Poland’s Syndrome. The surgeries included lift, reduction, rebuilding mammary fold, nipple placement, etc. My ducts were cut, muscles replaced, yadayadayada….
I attempted bfing w/ my first child, only to have her lose 15% of her body weight, suffer serious mastitis, emotional distress, just a lot of yucky complications. I was producing milk, but only about a quarter of an ounce COMBINED out of both breasts.
I’m currently pregnant w/ my second and am leaking much more colostrum than I did w/ my first. I’m wondering if anyone else has had cosmetic/reconstructive surgery and successfuly breastfed (and supplemented) the second time around, but was unable to the first time? Just wondering what my chances are this time.
Thanks!
my friend did and successfully fed her 4th child the nerves to the nipple had reattached meaning she could feed her
good luck hun

Hi, Are you in the UK? I would just like to suggest that you make contact with the Breastfeeding Network. I work as a Helper with them and if you call 0844 4124664 they will put you in touch with a Breastfeeding Supporter in your area. They will then give you support right through pregnancy and b/f. Many areas also have mother and baby groups for b/f support and chat too. The Supporters are trained to an extremely high level and will be able to provide the kind of specialist support and information that it sounds like you need. I’m sure it can be a more positive experience second time round and I wish you all the luck with it.
Best wishes
