I agree. It's a luxury , like buying a Rolls Royce. If people can pay for surgery they can certainly pay a small tax of 5% to support the people of this country. By the way, in many states including New York people pay taxes on professional services like massage,.plumbing, architects etc.But maybe the surgeons should pay the tax, because presumably they make better money than their patients

I don't know about the 5% tax on cosmetic,but it would be a great idea to give a 50% rebate on liposuction to about 75% of the american walking around.

I think it's a great idea! Vanity should be taxed at more than 5% though. How about 50%? Pelosi will never vote for it.

I disagree with you that all cosmetic surgery is elective. I know a man who lost his nose to frostbite and actually had the outer part of his nose amputated. Now he was so repulsive to look at he couldn't function in society or even get a job. His appearance was a huge distraction to everyone around him. He needed a prosthetic nose and his greedy insurance company threw him under the bus.

Not at all I think it is ridicules to do this to your body for the most part . But if you have the desire why should some government get your hard earned money for it.
