Could a 14 year old have plastic surgery in the US?

October 19th, 2009 | by admin |

My niece is absolutely desperate to have breast surgery and a tummy tuck, she is only 14 but I’ve been doing alot of research and in the USA there is no age limits to cosmetic surgery… My sister (her mum) has agreed to it. If anyone has any REAL info on this please answer?
I’m kind of lost for what way i should go about helping them. Dont give me made-up answers, facts only pleaseee. Thanks.

teenie28x, Last month my mother got cosmetic surgery and the results look really good so far. In my state a there are certain cosmetic surgeons that are better than others. I’d consult plastic surgeons in your area and see what sort of success they have had with past clients. http://www.plasticcosmeticsurgerycenter.com They should be able to answer your questions.

There are no age limits but she has to have parental consent and many doctors will not perform a surgery on someone so young because she is still growing. its possible to do though, you just need to find the right doctor who will agree to doing it

Yes, she can. As long as she has a parent or gaurdian over the age of 18 to give her consent, she is elligible for plastic surgery. And yes, it is legal.

I know it’s tough going through the stages of puberty and wanting… eh boobs, but 14 is such a young age. You don’t stop maturing until at least 18. If this is any good plastic surgeon they would tell the teenager to wait until eighteen to see if the breast fully mature into the size she may want. If not, then see about about breast augmentation. Give it time, I wasn’t fully matured at 14 and I ended up being a 34D. What a mistake that would have been if I had breast augmentation at 14 because I was a B. Think about it.

At 14 your body hasn’t properly developed yet, so it is an extremely bad idea if your niece gets plastic surgery.
I think legally you can, but any plastic surgeon who would do a tummy tuck or breast surgery on a 14 year old shouldn’t be trusted.
What sort of breast surgery is it though? eg. reduction, implants?

young people (teens) are constantly changing physically and mentally. Which is why there usually is an age restriction to surgery. Getting surgery done at such a young age can be risky bc the results can change as she grows up and older. You should talk about this with your sister especially. I can’t believe she gave her daughter permission for surgery, that girl should be learning how to love herself and finding out her identity, not changing it. i think your best hope would be to try and change their minds (especially your sisters)

    Hope this all works out!
