A Look at Chinese Antique Furniture

Flowers, Fruits, and Vegetables: These are not unique categories, but a collective symbolism of nature which is distinctly shown in the ancient metaphors of art and antiques. While there are a variety of symbols, each has an identical meaning, because they each signify a single natural object. For instance, long life is symbolized by bamboo, pine, mushrooms and others. And longevity is, of course, linked heavily to the natural world. Other common depictions include flowers for wealth, peach for joy, and lotuses for progeny.

There are many more symbols that can be found in Chinese artwork and antiques. Coins (wealth), water ripples (also wealth), fans (goodness), and the simple vase (peace) are all common symbols that are prevalent. Naturally, there are a lot of them, and many different meanings can be ascribed to these symbolic engravings.

These magnificent engravings, which are a true joy to the eye, only add to the astounding aesthetic value of these antiques, which were already greatly prized by most collectors in the first instance. This is why their inclusion is so welcome and increases the popularity of the items to a great degree.
