Acupuncture Needles
March 9th, 2010 | by admin |As will many medical terms, acupuncture comes from our Latin friends. Acu is from the Latin for needle. Puncture is also derived from a Latin term; pungere or prick. So there you have the definition of acupuncture. Needle prick. That is exactly what it is.
Acupuncture was first practiced by the Chinese who use to use stone needles to practice their craft. There have been needles of bronze, silver or even gold but normal needles today are sterilized stainless steel.
If you have not experienced acupuncture, you need not worry about pain. The needles are very slight and just barely break the skin.
